Making rounds on bike today with Lisa Heinlein

This nurse of the street got out by bike for street rounds today in the company of Lisa Heinlein (future nurse) and friend. Joined a meet up and BBQ in a local park put on by a church group on the last Sunday of each month. Many of our homeless that live along the river attend this event and it has become one of the locations we conduct follow up care.

Today most were doing pretty well. Spent some time with our friend Dee who had surgery for a wrist injury last week. She was doing well and is now housed with a friend and is looking for her own place. Dee has been a great advocate in the camps and taught us much about the community and reaches out to us by phone if someone in the camps is in need of health care.

We traveled about 10 miles today both on and off the ARBT trying to locate some folks. Many camps have been moved by both changing water levels in the rivers and the park rangers. There had also been a recent effort by the park rangers to move camps out of certain areas. While we were providing care and health care resources to one group the rangers made their presence known but did not disrupt our interaction. The enforcement of the no camping ordinance sometimes makes follow up a challenge.

Nice day to be out helping others.
